Poultry Science Cluster
The Poultry Science Cluster is a project of the Canadian Poultry Research Council – a national organization with a mandate to support timely and relevant poultry research.. The site is a hub of information on recent and ongoing poultry research in Canada.
The Challenge
The Poultry Science Cluster provides a central hub of information on CPRC-funded cluster research in Canada. It has made information available on research projects including research stories in a user-friendly format so that for anyone interested in learning more about poultry research in Canada would be able to find the research that would be helpful to them.The site has research from 2013.
As the number of research projects grew, it was important to be able to easily add data to each added project and make the results available via search. Further since it is a bilingual site, it was important that searching projects on the French side, had French results, and likewise the English side had English results. It was also important to improve the Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
The Solution
Northern Village upgraded the Poultry Science Cluster (PSC) website to the new Niiwin platform, which allows projects to be updated more easily, including categorizing the research into five relevant research areas, and further organized by sectors of the poultry industry. The new Niiwin platform includes a site search, which can be restricted to research pages and further into French and English pages.
Using the new platform research projects can easily be added to the site, and categorized appropriately. Also, the home page was updated to include Fact Sheets in the updated layout.
