Interhall Council at University of Guelph
Interhall Council (IHC) is the Residence Hall Association for the University of Guelph, founded in 1969. It has 53 members representing over 5,000 residence students, and is the largest residence student government organization in Ontario. The IHC helps to orient and welcome new students with activities and events that help them transition to campus life, working with other groups on campus, such as Residence Life Staff and the Central Student Association. IHC members are able to make residence students' voices heard.
The Challenge
The Interhall Council at the University of Guelph had their website moved over to YikeSite 8 years ago, and as happens with older websites, was in need of a refresh. Updating to Niiwin will help with being able to keep the website updated quickly and easily. Another important upgrade was to have a overview of the Residence Halls, including the Executive of each hall, showing when there are vacancies in positions. This gives IHC an efficient way for students to submit Petitions, Delegations and Representations (PDR) to give support and recognition and streamline the advertising process.
The Solution
Northern Village upgraded the website to the new Niiwin platform. This means that IHC can easily maintain the home page, the residence pages and events quickly and easily. The Residence Hall pages, include bios of the Executive, showing a photo when it is there, and also indicating a vacancy, if no person is added. A PDR form uses Formstack, which allows the form to open up sections depending on what is selected ie. Funding or Advertising. A detailed budget must be uploaded for funding applications.
