Announcing Web Village - new website software
It is the start of a new chapter at Northern Village We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website software called Web Village. Learn all about it at webvillage.ca
This blog post was iniitally released with the name Village CMS, a domain we used 10 years ago. But no one knows what a CMS is. We have rebranded as Web Village to better represent the goals we have for the software.
Why a new website editor?
With the changing landscape of technology, we wanted to have something that is easier to use and customizable. In building Web Village, we took great pleasure in finding ways to have one less click less for the things you want to do. Our users want to update their website, not struggle with getting website software to do what you want it to do. At the same time, we wanted to make it completely customizable. More on that later.

For the technically minded
We also know that for the technically-minded, that is not enough. So we created Web Village so you can build your own blocks and templates, or base them on the ones that come with Web Village. They are built with Shopify’s Liquid, making it very flexible so your end user can easily keep the website up to date. See more on our Liquid integration.
Finally, not be restrained by technology, we have built Web Village on a Phoenix Elixir base. Our goal is that any of our custom development can have all the advantages of a your website as a “front end”, while developing custom functionality on the back end. That can be exposed as blocks or templates on your website. See more on our custom development.
True to our values, we have built Web Village to serve the social benefit sector at a time that the technology landscape is rapidly changing. As a B Corp, Northern Village is in business as a force for good. Web Village can deliver on projects that are impactful in a meaningful way that previously was cost prohibitive.
