Guelph Historical Society
The Guelph Historical Society was founded to encourage and stimulate interest in the history of Guelph and its environs. It also aims to bring together individuals interested in the research, preservation, promotion and advancement of the history of the area.

The challenge
The Guelph Historical Society wanted to update an out-dated website, including making sure that it works on mobile devices as well big screens. They also wanted to digitize their collection of Historic Guelph, its annual publication since 1961, to make the history of Guelph more accessible to researchers and interested members of the public. They were also interested in providing the ability to buy memberships online.
The solution
Northern Village worked with the Society to reorganize the website to better promote their goals and activities. The design included historical images roating in the banner on the load of each page to give a feel for some of Guelph's oldest buildings. The addition of back issues of Historic Guelph was set up so that the Society could easily update the content on an ongoing basis. The ability to purchase memberships online is provided using Shopify.
Thanks to the Guelph Chamber of Commerce for use of their scanner in assisting to put Historic Guelph online. About half of the publications have been uploaded, and GHS is looking for volunteers to help upload the remaining ones.
